Here’s today’s selections including a 7/2 NAP!
14:05L: Corvair (NAP)
Serial winner on the All Weather including over course and distance. Trainer Crisford has a decent record in Lingfield Handicaps. Jockey booking of Murphy is a positive and shows us they will be trying today (We hope!).
Sporting Life says:
‘Completed a hat-trick when registering a 1½L victory in a 6f handicap here in early March. Raised 6lb for that effort and is of interest having won over this C&D in the past.’
If it drifts >6.0 near the off then we won’t be backing it.
This is going to be an amazing race and we’re going with Stradivarius. Gosden is in amazing form since racing resumed on Monday (5 winners) so we believe he will have Stradivarius ready. Frankie always a plus and when he teams up with Gosden he has crazy stats so worth following on that alone!
Stradivarius is certainly the value here though I’m wary of any late money for Anthony Van Dyck which could happen as you never know with Ballydoyle.
If Stradivarius goes off as 2nd Favourite then he is worth backing. If he drifts further and say Defoe or Van Dyck shorten into 2nd Favouritism then it’ll be a No Bet. I want to see him as a solid 2nd FAV in the market before putting any money on him so I will watch the market closely.
15:50L: Imperium (Only back if Favourite):
Roger Charlton will no doubt be hoping for a winner to warm up for the 1,000 Guineas and Imperium looks to have a good chance here.
We’re only going to back if it goes off clear Fav because of concerns about the jockey. When they go off Fav for Charlton he seems to do much better so if it’s NOT Favourite we don’t want to back it.
Sporting Life says:
‘Returned from a break with a victory by a short-head in a 1m4f handicap at Kempton in September and ran well when finishing runner-up over 2m at this venue the following month. Bold show expected on seasonal reappearance.’
We could have no bets today or three bets today. It’ll depend very much on the market for us because that’s how we do things!
Good Luck and Happy punting!
