13:50 Royal Ascot: Sir Dragonet
Aidan O’Brien is in fantastic form and Sir Dragonet is fancied in the market. There are certain negatives about his chief opponent Fox Tal which we won’t go into but we believe that Sir Dragonet should win this.
14:25 Royal Ascot: Molatham
Trainer Roger Varian is in terrific form. He had a winner yesterday (which we backed!) and he has another interesting runner here in this Group 3 contest. Jim Crowley booked to take the ride which is a big positive because he’s riding with real confidence having had 4 winners this week!
Sporting Life says:
‘Impressed with attitude when beating 2000 Guineas runner-up Wichita at Doncaster last year, and might have found 1m/soft ground too far when beaten in the Autumn Stakes on final start; conditions here look fine and looks one of the main players.’
We’re a little worried about the softening ground so if it drifts then consider a smaller bet than usual.. That’s what we will do. We want to be on this horse but we won’t risk a huge amount if he drifts in the market. He is currently 8 on Betfair so if it drifts to say 10 or higher then we’ll be a bit concerned and probably won’t back it.
Edit: Due to the rain and softening ground we’re only staking 0.5 points (half a stake) on Molatham. It’s difficult to predict whether he will run his race or completely bomb. This uncertainty has led to the drift in the market so the price is not too bad even at half a point.
15:00 Royal Ascot: Modern News
Godolphin do really well with their 2yo’s at Ascot and they run Modern News in this Listed contest. It’s difficult to tell how good he is but he must be one of their best if he is running here with William Buick booked. We think it’s worth a bet.
One more bet away from Royal Ascot:
16:25 Newmarket Trinity Girl
Trainer Mark Johnston is great form and his record at Newmarket is really impressive so we hope Trinity Girl can get off the mark here and is worth a bet.
Good luck and remember its been raining at Ascot so it could throw up some unusual results…
